Love Me Beauty: May Edit

Hola,
This post is extremely late in the month and I can only apologise. I mentioned in a prior post that I was having issues with my bag this month, it didn’t arrive on time and in the last week or so I’ve celebrated my 21st and had two exams and unfortunately the blog got put at the back of my To Do list.
But I’m back, with two exams down and 3 to go, ready to review this month’s Love Me Beauty Bag!

This month is the #shinebright Edit, there were some items from previous edits. We had some items from Nuxe, Manna Kadar and Aromatherapy.

The first item in the bag is one I struggled with picking the most as there was a colour range to choose from ( 3 colours) and if I’m being honest they all looked the same.

Manna Kadar – Liplocked Lip Stain, in Sienna 1.5g
20 Credits

First impression? It smells strange. Which, as it turns out, is a common theme in this month’s bag. This lip stain smells like paint, it’s not overly strong but the smell is there.

Secondly, this is not a stain. I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong in application but this is just a glossy lip product. Sienna is a nude lip, a pink to brown tone, with sheer to light coverage and a glossy finish.

The full size version of this product comes in many colours and retails for £24. Which is pretty steep for a tinted gloss.

I enjoy the mini version and I love carrying this in my bag for something quick to put on my lips. It does last for ages which is a massive bonus and it layers beautifully on top of liquid lipstick.

The second item in the bag is another Manna Kadar item, the Glo Shimmer Lotion 8ml 20 Credits.

Side Note: 20 out of 60 credits is a fair chunk of my subscription.

Thankfully this product doesn’t have much of a scent, if any scent, which I prefer.

The product itself is exactly what it claims to be a shimmer lotion to be used as an illuminator on the face of body. I haven’t used this product as a liquid highlight as I prefer powder products but I love mixing this into my foundation! It gives a beautiful dewy finish and a subtle ” glow from within” look.

This retails at £29 for 20ml which, if I’m being frank, isn’t worth it. You’d be better off looking at drug store products ( see example below) that would do the same job, if not better, for a much cheaper price tag. Nonetheless I enjoyed the product and it’s a perfect travel size!

My third product is one I feel a little silly for choosing as I then bought a full sized product that is highly similar. In my defence I purchased the dupe before the original arrived in the post.

It also smells, I can’t explain… there is strong fragrance of rose in this product but not in a way that smells fresh. Maybe I don’t like the smell of roses but what I do know is the smell doesn’t appeal to me.

This tonic is highly similar to the glycerin and rose water toner that I purchased and mentioned in my new purchases post.

Aromatherapy Associaties Rose Skin Tonic 30 ml 10 credits. This tonic claims to be refreshing and cooling yet hydrating leaving skin feeling refreshed and cleansed.

I can agree that all those claims are correct. Applying this product with a cotton pad gives a refreshing feeling during application and after usage my skin is softer and appears hydrated.

A full sized version would retail for £26 for 200ml. I’m not too keen on such a price tag as the Glyercin and Rose Water Toner I purchased for £2-3 does the same job, doesn’t smell and helps balance out the redness in my skin.

We have two more products to look at from this month’s bag. MeruMaya Melting Cleansing Balm 25ml – 20 Credits

Another strange smelling item in this month’s bag. Although the smell is not noticeable unless you go out of your way to smell products – which I do.

I loved this product. Even on my heavy make up days where I’ve done a full face of glam this product just melts it all away and despite feeling waxy and oily there is no tacky residue left after use.

To use product you apply a small amount to your face, dry face and hands, and massage in. Once a small lather begins to be worked up you add water and it becomes more of a milky colour and thinner consistency and ta-da you wash off for cleansed skin.

The Melting Cleansing Balm retails for £17.50 for 100ml and there is a possibility I may purchase this in the future.

The final product is one I haven’t fully tested yet and if I’m being honest is due to fear.

Nuxe Prodigieuse Or 10ml10 credits is a multi purpose dry oil that retails for £34 for 100ml. I haven’t tried any products from Nuxe before but anything that shimmers is calling my name.

The oil fulfills all its claims –

The sensorial Shimmering version of Huile Prodigieuse® contains tiny shimmering mineral particles. It nourishes, leaves a satin finish and illuminates skin and hair in one go. It has a unique, non-greasy feel and a captivating fragrance.

The fragrance is different and smells somewhat like skincare. You are left illuminated after using this but I must say I don’t think I would use this on an everyday basis so the price tag is stretched for a product I would reserve for going out on special occasions.

There reason I mentioned earlier I am fearful of using this product is because it states it can be used in the hair but I cannot imagine that would end well.

Shimmering hair? Hmm I’m not too keen about that idea

Should I ever venture further than using this oil on my body then I shall let you all know how it goes!

Until then stay blessed, good luck for those of you in exam season and I’ll be back again on Friday.

Love Emily x

P.s. Here’s a sneak peak at Friday’s post!
