Here we are again for another movie Monday and this time I’m doing it differently, again. This week I’m not doing a review on a movie but rather talking about what’s on my “to watch” list, kind of like my “to read” list.
I have been watching some newer releases including The Belko Experiment from last week, the new Fast and Furious 8 movie as well as the new take on Kong. Reviews on the latter two are on the way. Despite watching some newer releases I still have a bunch of movies that are still ‘new’ that I want to watch, are yet to be released or are some oldies but goodies!
Oldies but Goodies
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
I remember watching The Silence of the Lambs years ago when I was younger, not too young mind you, and being captivated. A clever female detective and an ever more clever psychopathic killer. Call me morbid if you will but I do deem this movie a classic in my eyes and I haven’t watched it in so long!
Another Jodie Foster film starring a young Kristen Stuart. This I another movie I remember watching a long time ago, when I was much younger and I remember being somewhat scared. I think now that I’m older I need to go back and rewatch this movie and see what I think of it now.
One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
This is a very old movie, made and released long before I was born or even thought about and one that I have watched thanks to my mother. I saw a trailer for this movie in the cinema a month or so ago and I was confused and worried that there may be a remake in the works. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it seems to be a re-release of the original, starring Jack Nicholson who is a criminal who opts for a mental institution rather than jail.
Beauty and the Beast ( 2017)
I feel like the only person on the planet who hasn’t watched this movie yet and I have no reason as to why I haven’t. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films ever – I really related to Belle, I read a lot of books like her. I was young forgive the simplicity. I am curious to see how Hermio- I mean Emma Watson performs as Belle and how such a Disney classic works as a live action.
Okay see this one, this little movie right here. Watch the trailer, I beg of you. Now have you watched it? You better say yes. Because I can’t possibly be the only person who got teary watching that trailer?
Doggies living multiple lives and re-finding some of the family they lost in their lives? A little tear? Anyone?
Okay moving on, this movie looks adorable and I love puppies so I see no wrong here.
Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 ( 2017)
I watched movie, I mean Volume 1 a few weeks ago as it was on BBC or ITV, it was on TV basically and I’ve seen a few good comments here and there on the internet so I gave it a whirl and I enjoyed it.
Volume 1 wasn’t spectacular or mind blowing but I found it humorous, family friendly and Groot is the best character I’ve ever seen.I enjoyed vol 1 enough to make me want to watch vol 2 to see how everything develops – including baba Groot.
Here’s the trailer. We’ve got a fast paced cop-thriller starring Jamie Foxx and the story of when being a bad cop goes wrong. There have been parallels drawn between this and Taken and I guess I can see why but just because a child gets kidnapped doesn’t make every movie like Taken.
I like Jamie Foxx as an actor and the trailer interested me but I’m not sure if I would pay to go cinema to watch this.
King Arthur – Legend of the Sword (2017)
Now I love druids, fantasy and historical magic in England so you can imagine that the lore of Merlin interests me. I loved the Disney depiction of Arthur and Merlin, I loved the TV series and I even weeped a little on the finale so I looked at this trailer with sort of shifty eyes.
It does look epic: the costumes, the props, the cinematic camera shots but part of me, admittedly a large part, is skeptical about this. It may be down to the tales of King Arthur being told again and again and again. Or maybe it’s down to the trailer being more action than lore and I couldn’t really see Merlin in the trailer.
I still have hopes for this movie but right now it’s somewhere between a hit and a miss.
Wonder Woman (2017)
This trailer has popped up a couple times in the cinema and I am excited to see this movie. I’ve been excited to see the trailer since last summer when I watched Batman v Superman and caught a glimpse of Wonder Woman in that.
I have no idea when it is due for release in the UK but you can bet when it comes out that I’ll watch it.
Bye bye until Wednesday!
