As you may already know, my blog turned one month old last Saturday; see here. In this post I mentioned updating my About page, which I have now done. I have included disclaimers on my blog to keep you, the reader, updated and to maintain transparency at all times. I mention this now as it is relevant; the E-Book I am about to review was kindly sent to me for free but as present in my disclaimers all following views are my own and no positive review is guaranteed to any third party.
With that out of the way, let us take a look at this week’s Sunday Book Club: Ewan Pendle and The White Wraith by Shaun Hume‘s . This book has been keeping me company on my travels over the last few weeks.
I will be honest, there was an initial shock when reading the advertisement for Ewan Pendle and The White Wraith as it claims to be an ‘antidote for Post-Potter Depression’. Note: skeptical.
Admittedly, the drawing of such a comparison made me a bit harsher on the book when I first began to read it. This book is not here to fill a Harry Potter void but it is here to create its own space. Ewan Pendle and The White Wraith is a fantasy novel, the first of it’s series and I would hate for it to be over shadowed by comparison.

You can purchase this through Amazon. Shaun Hume is an Australian born author of three novels, including Ewan Pendle and The White Wraith. He has self-published Ewan Pendle and the White Wraith through his own indie company called “Popcorn and Rice Publishing” in 2013.
Overall, Ewan Pendle and The White Wraith will hit the spot for it’s target audience and there are enough plot points to hold your interest orphans, cruel adults and a nefarious murderer.
Hume compensates any minor mistakes by writing cleverly crafted metaphors and a plot that leaves the reader asking questions, even after the last page is read.

Hi Shaun, the review excerpts are a clever marketing technique! Kudos to your friend for that but like I said your book is not here to fill a Harry Potter void but create a space for itself. & any mistakes made can be forgiven for a self published piece of work so nonetheless you did a good job. Hi Emily, thanks for the review! Sorry you weren’t a fan of the review excerpts – not my words, and to be honest, as a big HP fan myself, I thought they were a bit strong! But was suggested by a friend to put them in the book description, so there you go … Also the editing errors – didn’t have much money to pay someone to do it back 5 years ago, so agree it was a bit riddled … Have now recently (just a few days ago) had it looked at again and fixed up the lose bits, so if you want a new copy of the newer edition let me know 🙂 Thanks again for the review, and will certainly send you a free copy of book two when it is done 😀
